Etiologies :
- Hereditary : Duchenne, Becker, limb-girdle, myotonic
- Endocrine : hypothyroidsm, hyperparathyroidism, Cushing syndrome
- Toxin : statins, fibrates, glucocorticoids, zidovudine, alcohol, cocaine, antimalarials, colchicine
- Polymiositis and dermatomyositis
Clinical Manifestation :
- Progressive weakness, proximal > distal
- Myalgia (can coccur, or not)
- Eventual muscle atrophy
Diagnostic Studies :
- CK
- EMG
- Muscle biopsy
