Epidemiology :
Mostly found in the age < 3 years old. Up until now, the etiology is still unknown. The risk of getting this disease is increasing as birth weight decreases.
Pathogenesis :
The disease divided into two ways.
Epithelial type –> containing fetal or embryonal malignant cells
Mixed Type –> containing mesenchymal and epithelial elements
Clinical Manifestation :
- General Manifestations –> Large, asymptomatic malignant cells
Weight loss, anorexia, vomiting, abdominal pain
- If Metastatic, it will spread –> involves regional lymph nodes and the lungs
Lab :
- ?-fetoprotein elevated
- Bilirubin and Liver enzymes Normal
Diagnosis :
- Plain radiographs
- USG
- CT / MRI
Treatment :
- Depends on complete resection of the primary tumor
- Cisplatin + vincristine and 5-fluorouracil or doxorubicin
